Andy, Matt, Stephen and Jackie were on my fourth, 5 star leader training for the year and it was good to see the sunshine was out. After an initial briefing, discussions and planning we headed out to the North coast and Harry Furlongs rocks, for some protected rough water and rescues. The forecasts were very variable with one suggesting f3/4 and another f4-6 ....
The forecast was more f4 and dropping to f3 as we headed out to the various cardinal marks using transits as we went, working our way out towards the Skerries ... more working on one of the races, with crossing using contact tows and moving up flow. We landed for a short leg stretch, some snacks and for the ebb to loose some of its punch before crossing back to the mainland and Andy leading us back, as well as looking for a specific location.
We found a super little beach which allowed us a partial sunset and the wind disappeared ... slowly the clouds parted for some good glimpses of the milky way and really magic mermaid dust, with the bio luminescence ... a great day ..
We met at Porth Dafach, for a out and back Stacks trip with a f3 SW ... navigation, scenarios, leadership and inputs form time to time from me.
Rolls, fun and balance eddy turns with legs out as well as surfing with legs out, then self rescues .. ;)
Rocky landing as a leader and managing a group ...
And some super rock hoping and close quartering ....
With even some time to paddle, soak it up and pause ....
Then out to an ebbing South Stack, to catch a wave or two ...
I missed the shot I was after, with Steve on a wave with his Greenland stick ... but he got it good ... ;)
It had been a great few days with a super bunch of people, who were really keen and paddling at the appropriate level to join the 5 star training. All the best with working on your action plans now ....
